Long Day

Wow - our visit was short, but so wonderful to see everyone even for a short time. It is hard to be so far away from the ones we love.

We know it was a once in a lifetime day to fly on a private plane.

Punkin' Pie was worn out from her adventure!

More from our Special Day

We cruised the mall for a short time after our lunch, to keep cool in the 93 degree heat. It was a shock to our northern systems!

Maren was a good girl at lunch and Allison was so happy to see her silly Uncle John.

Special Day!

Maren, Mommy and Daddy had a very special day on Monday. We were able to fly to South Carolina on a trip with Mommy's boss and see Nana, Ampa and cousin Allison for lunch and a visit in Charleston. What a great day! We were sad we didn't get to see Aunt Jodi and Casey dog, but she was running Vacation Bible School at church.

Here is Maren running to "the red plane" as she called it.

Diagnosis - Scratchy

Maren loves to play doctor with the Elmo doctor kit that Nana and Ampa gave her for Christmas. But, she will "examine" us with anything, a necklace, whatever she can get her hands on. (She is also currently obsessed with Mr. Rogers. John has been taping old episodes for and if we have watched "Mr. Rogers gets a flu shot" once, we have watched it 15 times.)

We were examining each other yesterday. I said all of her parts were "good." She told me all of my parts were "fine" (nice use of a synonym, Punkin!). Until she got to my legs (I was wearing shorts). I asked "How are my legs?" She rubbed her necklace up and down my shins and said "Scratchy."

What an arm!

John has been teaching Maren to throw his "robie" disc (like a frisbee). She loves to toss it with great force. Dads are good at teaching the "throwing stuff," much better than Moms.

Daddy's New Kayak

Daddy has a new toy to navigate...a kayak! Maren loves to climb in and out of it...on dry land for now. This video was taken on John's phone.

Ice Cream!

We encourage her in her addiction to ice cream and cake, since we share it as well...

She and I went to a local place a few blocks from our house, Sundaes in the Heights.
Mmm...chocolate!

Summertime

A few random shots from a few weekends ago when John was working both days. Poor Daddy. We managed to entertain ourselves.

Discovered that although Maren says she wants to run through the sprinkler, all it takes is one splash of water to the face to make her run the other way!

John's Birthday

Was yesterday, June 5. He has decided he is no longer celebrating birthdays and will be freezing his age. We did a few special things to celebrate any way. And no good pictures, because I could NOT hold the cake and a camera, too, and keep Maren's hair out of the flames, since she helped blow out the candles.

It finally made it into the 80s yesterday, too, so Maren jumped at the opportunity to wear her bathing suit outside, instead of "swimming" on the living room floor in it. I am worried we have created a "birthday addict" since she is obsessed with cake and wanted to see "Happy Birthday, Maren" as well as several versions of "Happy Birthday, Daddy."
